The highland wolf given a different name by those who've stood close enough to notice the coat: pale silver-grey in full winter, with a soft iridescence along the spine that catches moon and torchlight alike. This quality is what drives the trade of their pelts. The bones and teeth of a silver wolf, worked into periapts and amulets, are widely considered to carry protective properties.

Appearance

A silver wolf stands slightly taller and heavier than its lowland cousins, broader across the shoulders, with a deep chest and legs built for the uneven terrain of the Eldeann range. The coat is thick, layered, and pale: ash-grey at the roots deepening to silver at the tips. The eyes of a Silver-Wolf are a steady amber or pale gold.

In packs of six to twelve, Silver-Wolves are known to circle in assessment. An animal that holds its ground and does not flee is often simply watched and then left alone. An animal that runs changes the equation.
