Shūjāō

Followers of Shūjāō, the God of Celebration, maintain that joy itself represents a form of spiritual transcendence, and I must admit I find their theology remarkably persuasive.

Shūjāō has no formal temples; instead, his worship happens in taverns, festival grounds, private homes, and whenever people gather in genuine camaraderie. His most devout followers, known as Revelators, travel between communities organizing celebrations that combine religious reverence with spectacular entertainment. I accompanied a group of these professional merrymakers for two moontides while researching this guide, a period of which I have only fragmented memories but numerous unexplained bruises.

Devotees of Shūjāō should:

  • Host regular celebrations
  • Carry instruments or games on their person
  • Share jokes with strangers
  • Create joy in dark times
