The Night of Remembrance

For those of more macabre tastes, the Night of Remembrance honoring Ōphīa offers a more somber experience. Families maintain all-night vigils at ancestral graves, sharing stories of the departed and leaving offerings of food and drink. As a traveler far from my own ancestral grounds, I've found these ceremonies surprisingly welcoming to strangers. Sharing a flask with grieving families while listening to tales of their departed has provided some of my most genuine connections during my journeys.
