Caprydans
Goat Folk/Satyrs

My research among the Caprydans taught me the value of proper footing. These goat-legged folk with their spiraling horns and nimble hooves easily navigate cliff faces and mountain slopes. While outsiders fixate on their physical traits (particularly their impressive horns and percussion-worthy head-butting contests), Caprydan culture runs far deeper than simple physical prowess.
Created by Vōldāll, Caprydan communities typically establish themselves in mountainous regions, building terraced settlements that follow natural contours rather than imposing rigid designs. Their homes feature multiple levels connected by slopes (rarely stairs), with the most respected elders occupying the highest dwellings. This verticality isn’t just practical; it reflects their social philosophy that wisdom rises like mountain mists.
Young Caprydans undertake solo journeys to find their “peak,” a personal challenge that defines their adult path. With lifespans of 80-100 years, Caprydans maintain trading partnerships with Ārdans who value their mountain herbs and minerals, friendly competition with Ekoyks over who claims the highest territories, and cautious respect for Magnithōrans; neighbors in tight mountain passes.
- Folk Talent - Sure-Footed: You never need to roll when traversing difficult terrain like narrow ledges or steep inclines. Additionally, you can climb vertical surfaces without equipment as long as minimal handholds exist.
- Folk Talent - Stubborn Determination: Once per session, when you fail a roll while pursuing a goal you've stated is important to you, you may immediately re-roll without Overexerting.
- Folk Talent - Headbutt: You can use your horns as natural weapons. When making an attack with them, double the damage of each success.
